    shit fucking MOVED

50ish miles later I followed the guy to a gas station, he said it's got an LS1 with LS6 heads, some cam (didn't tell me what), intake, headers. Runs [email protected] on some all-seasons that came from the factory on an Audi because he gets them free :mamoru: his friend with an almost identical setup ran 10.9 on slicks.

with the ecuts closed it was pretty quiet, ie I saw the bowtie on the back so I figured it had a smallblock of some sort but couldn't tell at all. a couple minutes later when I couldn't see it I heard SOMETHING open up that sounded quite healthy... eventually managed to catch up and when I pulled up beside him and gave him a thumbs up he was willing to get on it for me.

How common are LS1 Zs? I'm not sure that I've seen one before :dunno:

I really wanted to build one of these. Couldnt find a completely clean body so I settled for an RX7. Badass cars though

it kinda surprised me that the guy had 2 friends with LS1 swapped Zs :dunno:

also: the factory engine was a 2753cc... does that make it a 280Z?

I'm sure with aftermarket seats you could fit in one decently :dunno: or how tall are you?

I can imagine, especially on shitty tires.

The guy claimed that with the LS1 he saved a fair bit of weight and also moved the balance a decent bit rear, said it was 50/50. Doesn't sound too implausible to me, considering how much lighter an Al V8 is than a cast iron i6 :dunno:

he said he DDs it :dunno: 91 octane gas is all it needs, it's an LS1 and not THAT far from stock... gets 25mpg on the freeway and averages 20mpg

Considering he got onto the throttle for me, when I was obviously holding a camera, he clearly noticed me. He asked me where I was going, and didn't seem that weirded out when I told him that I was going to San Luis Obispo - which was another 150 miles or so from there.

Is it somewhat odd following some guy to a gas station? Sure. But when he showed you what his car can do, it isn't THAT strange.

he had stock suspension on a considerably lighter than stock car so IMO it was riding way too high :o but yeah it's a decent looking car

you'd think he would at least paint the engine bay first

    werd.

Who'd a thunk swapping in a v8 in would make the car lighter and give you more room in the engine bay.
