I haven't looked much into the .17 but why's it special?

What makes it better then a .22 mag for varmit (which I assume the .17 is for)

.22 hornet seems like a good round, but I don't own any guns in that cal.

If you haven't shot and killed something you can't understand how badass the .17 is

Love my savage. My bro-n-law has a marlin. It's sometimes nice having 7 rounds, but the mag gets in my way in the truck when spotlighting and pokes you in the back when it's on a sling.

I liked my Savage .17, but I ended up selling it because ammo was to rich for my blood for a plinker :hsd:

ended up getting a 10/22 and modifying it instead.

My dad gave me my Savage for X-mas (I gave him my 10/22 the year before) and I got the scope off his 270 when he upgraded to a Khale...I figure I'm way ahead on price so the ammo doesn't bother me.

Plus the 10/22 could never hit a skunk in the eye @ 100yds:mamoru:

whats the difference between spending a lot of money on .17hmr and spending a lot of money on 10/22 mods? :dunno: i guess in the long run the cost of .22 will make it worth it.

should have listened to me when you first got it

$11 for 50 isn't enough for me to stop and think before I shoot at something.

    That's kinda funny $11 divided by 50 = .22 :o

.22 is a pretty great round... I've never not downed whatever I shot at.

This past weekend I was hunting rabbit, something to do and a free dinner, but didn't see anything... took down a squirrel though. It was still moving when I walked up to it so I put a round in his head... eye popped out :hs:

There's a Marlin .17 hmr with a pretty decent Simmons scope already attached at the shop. However it has a wood stock, and i was looking to get black synthetic. Plus i can get a good deal on scopes anyway since we sell those too.

I'd get a .17 but I already have a nice Marlin .22WMR. Pretty similar ballistics :dunno: taken a few squirrels with mine.

I would spend the extra dough and get the laminate thumbhole if I had it to do again. That stock Savage has looks and feels badass.
