I am trying to decide which version of satellite radio I am going to get installed in my car. A couple months of ago I was set on getting the Sirius Kenwood package that came with an FM Modulator. Now XM has released their own package with an FM modulator for about $100 cheaper :eek3:

Now it comes down to the programming. I am a 17 y/o male who listens to modern rock, rap, hip-hop... I am a big sports fan (NBA, NFL, NCAA Football, Basketball, Baseball). I am looking for insights on you people with satellite radio and how satisfied you are with XM or Sirius. And if any of you match my criteria.

Here are the details for the units:

    http://www.xmradio.com/commander/ ($159.99)

    http://www.sirius.com/servlet/Conte...s/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=1028140215544 ($229.95)

    Thanks for any info... :wavey:

    XM hardware > Sirius hardware
and don't get the FM modulator, it ruins the quality :sad2:

Programming is personal preference, I like the XM programming better, best thing to do is to goto Circuit City or someplace and play with them both.

I have a 2004 Mazda6, and there are no aux-in or places for an aftermarket H/U without disabling some of the main features of the car. :hs:

Uhm, Prolly fucking not. XM Sucks. I had it before I threw it away and bought a Sirius receiver. If you like commercials, Buy XM.

    XM > Sirius

Get Sirius if you like listening to audio that sounds like it is being played through a string can telephone and having service that cuts out more than a Sprint cell phone.

As for XM's commercials... they are transparent, you don't notice them at all.

If you like sports, try Sirius. They broadcast many games in many sports live.

Check out the websites of both to get an idea of what their programming is like. I really dont feel like refuting all the Sirius bashing in here.

Rest assured, you will be happy with either one.

I thought one of the main selling points for this shit was commercial free radio.

A good number of XM's channels are commercial-free.

XM all the way! It's been my saving grace since I got it.

The best about XM is the Delphi system! I can bring my XM with me on the road, or inside while I work. I get my moneys worth!

I agree that the commercials on the stations are very transparent .. you barely notice them.

I got XM because of the quality in the Jazz stations, but that is my taste and I couldn't ask for anything better.

 You mean the satellite defect (thanks Boeing...)? The backup satellite has had the problem corrected, and they can link the two defective satellites together and make enough power for them to act as one while putting the third up to act as satellite #2.

Sorry, but the problems have been solved...

XM has (or will soon) over 1 million subscribers ... i'm sure any issues they might have will be fixed.

They bring in > $5million per month in subscriptions alone, i'm sure they will be fine.

Unfortunately I will be sticking with the regular antenna :(

With 2003/2004 Mazda6's you have no way of installing aftermarket h/u's w/o losing the lcd display. Plus you have to install the h/u in the glove box above the center console because there is no kit available for the Mazda6 and the center console is a 1 piece.

My only option is sat. radio with fm modulator. I am just trying to decide on sirius or xm, but I think I am going to go with XM.

Don't worry about the antenna, the FM modulated unit is great...quality is just as good as my brother's in-dash XM
