lately in Qatar i've been seeing quite a few folks that talk for hours on a satellite phone. I've looked online and the minutes are expensive. how are they using it as long as they are?

Unit pays for the minutes. When I was at Qatar, one of the guys in another crew was always on the phone. I don't know how long he stayed on it, but he used it about everyday. Every aircrew has one, well to my knowledge.

It should start around November. At that time, the temperature should also drop to between 50 F and 70 F in the daytime and 30 F to 50 F degrees at night. The weird thing is that when I came back to Kuwait after leave in Colorado in February, it was hard to tell the difference. For some reason, 40 F in the Middle East feels the same as -10 F in the States.

Rain coming down during a sand storm sucks, like raining mud.

This shit pisses me off. Our battalion had a grand total of 3 sat phones for 800 Marines and that's a big fucking deal when you're living in taliban compounds for months on end with no phone center or internet center to go back to at a nice cushy FOB. We got 1 phone call a month and those calls were limited to 5 minutes while pogues at some Ritz Carlton AFB in Qatar get a sat phone to talk on for hours whenever they want. God I love being a Marine :ugh:
