I currently own a Kodak Z612 and have been using it to shoot as well as film my soldiers train for learning purposes. Today after I used it to film one of my soldiers on the firing line, I think some sand got in there as I could not get it to turn back on. The lens would pop out a little bit then go back to the default position and shut down. What are my opti0ons in terms of getting this fixed? Could I do it myself? If not is there a decent point and shoot camera i can use that can take the extreme conditions I work with?

you can call kodak to see about repairing it, but more than likely it will cost more than buying another camera.
