Make sure you don't have your contacts set to receive an old ringtone. I made that mistake.

iTunes is all you need to convert any .mp3 to .aac and you get to choose exactly what part a song you want (up to 30 seconds as your phone will go to voicemail after 30 seconds).

This method works great for Sprint phones, I don't know if it will work any other carrier.

In iTunes, first go edit > preferences > advanced. Now set import setting to AAC encoder. For setting choose "custom." Set the stereo bit rate to 64 or less (The higher the bit rate the larger the final product so if you have tons of internal memory u can go higher if you wish).

Now you have to choose what song you want for your ringtone (your ringtone cannot be made from a song you downloaded from iTunes because those tracks are protected)

Right click the song you wish to sample for your new ringtone and select "get info." Then click the "options" tab. There you choose section of the song you want for your ringtone using the Start and Stop times. (U can narrow it down to hundreths of a second for extreme accuracy). After you have your section of the song ready, right click the track again and this time "convert to aac." This conversion wont take long and once the new file is created, drag it from iTunes to your desktop.

    Next, open this:

    http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php

That is tool you'll use to upload the new ringtone to your phone. U basically send a text message to yourself that contains the link to download the ringtone to your phone. Works great! Once you receive the text, simply download the ringtone and you're all done.

Free customized ringtones >>>>>>>>>>>>> paying for them

He's talking about playing a ringtone.

mp3's don't work as ringtones on the A900. Only acc's.
