Salina man survives shooting himself in the head
    The Associated Press

SALINA, Kan. | A 36-year-old Salina man survived shooting himself in the head after pulling the trigger of a gun he thought was empty.

Shannon D. Austin avoided serious injury when the .22-caliber revolver discharged a bullet above one of his eyes Sunday morning, said Salina Police Deputy Chief Carson Mansfield.

The shooting occurred when Austin's neighbor, Michael Urich, stopped by to tell him he had been in a fight at a local bar, police said. Austin fired the revolver — which he thought did not contain any bullets — several times in the air in a show of support for Urich.

Urich told Austin to stop, but Austin then turned the gun toward his head and pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit Austin's skull above an eye, but didn't penetrate the bone.

Austin was treated at a local hospital, where police ticketed him for shooting a firearm within city limits.

    :ugh:
I hate gun restrictions but perhaps they should institute a minimum IQ

Saggy drawers prompt man to shoot 18-year-old
Posted: Monday, June 23rd, 2008 at 8:06 pm

A Jacksonville man is accused of shooting an 18-year-old after telling him to pull his jeans up.

It happened about 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Cross Creek Apartments on Manotak Avenue. Police arrived to find the 54-year-old suspect standing next to the victim. The suspect had a gun in his waistband but kept his hands up for police.

Several witnesses told police the man followed David A. Mitchell into the courtyard from the pool telling him to pull his pants up. The two began to argue, and the younger man pushed the suspect before being shot in the stomach, according to the arrest report.

Mitchell, who was released from the hospital the same day, told the Times-Union Monday that the bullet is still in his side but the doctors say he’ll be fine. He said he had never seen the man and knew his shorts were sagging. He said he pulled them up, but the man said it wasn’t enough and just kept coming. So he pushed him off and tried to walk away.

John C. Constantin , who lives at the Westside apartments, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. According to the arrest report, he told police it was self-defense after he was assaulted for telling Mitchell to pull his pants up.

Family reached at his home Monday offered their apologies and said Constantin was remorseful for what happened. He remains in jail on $100,000 bail.

    They both sound white.

I never met a black man named David.

Lies, we all know .22's are the most lethal round evar, the choice of the mafia and mossad/idf forces. It bounces around inside. I read it on the internets.

.22 to the head at close range and it didn't even penetrate the bone?

I'm betting it was at an angle. Square on, it'd probably penetrate unless the guy had an especially hard skull.

An IQ test (during the licensing phase) with a passing score of 105 would eliminate quite a few problems.

Or we can keep letting the problems eliminate themselves. :mamoru:

There's no IQ exam that can test for this level of stupidity. It's a wonder how someone like this even manages to put their pants on in the morning.
