so I'm posting this from safari on my win XP machine.

not sure what the point is, its not like the the windows market was thirsting for yet another browers.

It is slow as fuck on my machine despite what apple says.

and this font smoothing thing makes it look like my screen is somehow out of focus.

although on the plus side it makes it look like I'm on a mac. heh.

    http://www.apple.com/safari/

and there is a thread on this in the main forum

That is such a scam. They call opera the slowest and they say firefox is faster than msie with safari being fastest. that is a lie.

I would say either firefox or safari is slowest. I know msie is faster than firefox, and opera is fastest of them all.

well, I think their measurements are way off. I'll still download it for web-design test purposes... perhaps I should run a few tests of my own?

anyone know any good (free) video-screen-capture apps?

although, browsing around on OT after a little while has sped up significantly. It might just need to build a little cache, seems pretty quick now

Yeah, :wtf: is what I thought when I heard that as well. Every Windows user who is smart enough to use something other than IE already uses Firefox or Opera and is perfectly happy with it. The only advantage Safari has on OSX is that it integrates nicely with the OS and has the OSX look and feel, so on Windows (or any other OS), I don't see any reason to use it.

Also, I _hate_ using Safari. It's a piece of shit.

:werd: I love my mac, but use Opera and Camino. Although, I still use Safari for weird embedded objects (i.e. videos, etc)

This shit wont even start for me on Vista.

    "Safari Web Browser Stopped working"

And I really wanted to ditch fucking firefox. I hate it! 500mb memory usage + crawls after 1 day's usage.

Yah I got that shit downloaded. Gonna install later.

I like how Vista looks :o. Not to mention I got the legit copy of it. If you want DX10, you pretty much have to upgrade anyways. Cyrsis/Bioshock are coming out soon, no?

You actually leave your web browser open for more than a day? I'm sorry, but that doesn't qualify as a normal usage condition, you're on your own if it doesn't work right.

ugh the assuming deuse strikes again.

you so wrong.... again. LOTS of people leave their machines on 24/7. My machine at work has been on for probably a month, with more than one browser window up the entire time. My machine at home is probably going on at least 2 weeks and I leave opera and some tabs open constantly.

Only thing I like is how it auto searches when you start typing in a URL even if you havn't visited it before. Seems pretty fast, definitly faster than IE.

I've been hearing that there is fixes for DX10 on XP.

I forget if it was a video driver, or a separate hack.

What is this 1995? I probably haven't closed this session of Firefox in 3 weeks.
