    the most popular swap is a GM 350(vortec 5.0,5.7,5.3, 4.7, Lt1, Ls1)

    stock S-10s come with (old - 2.5 I4, and 2.8v6, 4.3 V6)(newer 2.2 I4 and 4.3 v6)

and fullsizes will fit pretty much anything

I had a 350 in my '93 S-10. Pretty easy to do really. And really fast. JTR has all the info.

as for the full size, you can put anything in it of course, but then you can BUY it with anything in it anyway. 454 if you want torque, but for speed a well built 350 is gonna be the best.

i've seen a first gen. s-10 with a 454 in it. the second and third gen. don't have the same room inside. when my 2.2 craps out, i'll go for a 350 or 327. if anyone wants to help me in funding, hell, i'll throw a 454 in there. shit, while i'm at it, i'll just mid-mount a hemi, and twist the frame all to shambles. not to mention never ever grip the road again.

Wouldn't call that a generational change. Exterior change with grill, bumper, mirrors and interior with guages, airbag, and HVAC and Stereo layout. The engine remained the SFI that was changed in 1995.5/6.

still doesn't count for a generational change.. the whole powertrain lineup must change along with a complete body makeover.
