so, my 400gb sata drive is 2 years old. it was working fine. all smart programs came back good when testing the drive

then i started getting disk write delay errors in the even viewer yesterday. after that, the drive no longer showed up in my computer, or the device manager until i reboot the computer.

i ran a disk scan with hd tune and it showed quite a bit of bad sectors.

sucks, every hard drive will fail eventually

Sounds like you had a head crash...SMART can't do shit about sudden failures.

hmmm...i pulled it out of the case a put it in a sata dock connected via esata and an extensive test with western digital lifeguard, hdtune, ms scan disk, and hard drive sentinel

it passed all of them. i guess i'll replace my sata cable and see what happens
