http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/07/10/ryan-reynolds-is-the-green-lantern/ I'm actually okay with that decision. I've like Reynolds for a long time, he's got good comedic timing and has demonstrated some potential to actually be a very good actor. My only fear is that with Reynolds as the lead they might make it too humorous, but that's a minor fear at most, Green Lantern isn't (or wasn't until now) a story that I really think calls for a dark tone. What is most interesting to me is what this implies for the Deadpool movie. Two competing studios will not want the same actor playing two leads in two different comic book movies, as it could easily confuse audiences (yes, audiences have proven themselves to be that stupid). So either the Deadpool movie isn't going to happen, or Reynolds will be replaced in it, or (and this is the one I'm really hoping for) they will keep Deadpool masked for the entire movie. Unfortunately, again, people are fucking stupid and a superhero with no face is a very tough sell. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to this movie.
