I need to find a local guy with a TII and a local guy with a SR20 and compare, I really can't decide.
is this for daily driving? Do they smog in TN?
No smog, daily driver in nice weather, but I own a rental car company, so transportation isn't really an issue.
Transmission problems are sucky.
Stater is just regular shit, it happens to every car.
Same with alternator
Boost leak - Incorrect install
Exhaust leaks - same
Oil leaks - Same, replace the gaskets while you have it out.
I understand your frustration, but it's not really SR20 specific IMO.

fawk, an rb25 is USUALLY (operative word is USUALLY) cheaper than rb26detts (3500 usd).
get an rb25det and call it a day
