 at tugboats comment. I do think the cold war is starting up all over again. That, and Russia predicts that the United States will self destruct in a few years - means Russia thinks we are weak and an easy target.

Because a Russian analyst made those comments, you think that's how the foreign policy of a nation feels?

A military attack on our home soil is probably the best thing that could happen to the country right now.

No, but it sort of mirrors what I've been feeling lately. Economic turmoil - coupled with the fact that the United States isn't very popular in the world today for a variety of reasons means that I predict our fall from grace as a world superpower.

  11. Not if it was successful... Let's hope it's the French or the Canadians that invade.

""At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide" - Lincoln

These days a missile destroyer hundreds of miles away is just as effective.
