I made a main forum thread a few nights ago, and actually ordered some shoes. They were asics and they looked like walmart shoes.

    Post either,
    Your favorite shoes +
Height, weight, under/over pronator, miles ran/activity shoes are used for. If you're heavy, also add if you're a fat fuck or broly.

    Or,
Just give me suggestions. I'm a neutral to slight over pronator. I'm 5'9" 200lbs and I'm hard on shoes. I want some that I make last for longer than 3 months. I don't usually go more than 20 miles a week, but I run stairs and I do stuff with a 45lb weight vest.

The most comfortable shoes I had back un my running days was a pair of New Balances. I don't remember the model but that was like 5 years ago so they probably don't make them anymore. Nike/Adidas always felt like ass.

I swearby Mizunos. I've had a pair for four years ( :o :o I used them for a cc season in hs, and I just got back into running about 6 months ago) that I still use. They are pretty pricey compared to nb or other brands.

Yea some people love them but for some reason I could never find a pair of Nikes that had enough room in the toe box.

I looked at some on zappos. thought hard on them. Ended up ordering some pearl izumi's. I figure the Japs do cars the best, might as well try their shoes.

when I ordered those asics my wife saw the charges and said "no way you'll like them", I asked why? "they're too cheap". lol I like 'spensive shit.

You need to get fitted at a running store. No one on this forum can CORRECTLY recommend you a shoe until they see your cadence, foot strike and pronation. All you're asking for is a shoe that looks cool, is light and won't fit.

Go get fitted at a REAL running store (ie: Not major, chain sporting goods store).

It CAN make all of the difference in the world.

With your stats - I would recommend an Aasic Nimbus 8 or 9. But I'd seriously get fitted.

I'm sure. there isn't one anywhere around here. I'm not as concerned about the fit really as I am one that will last.

    pulled the trigger on these.
They might suck, but I'll send them back. $119. I like pearl izumi bike stuff, so I figured I'd give their shoes a try. They might be too much xcrountry for me though. we'll see.

These are really awesome, they cut my mile time by 45 seconds after training in them for one month.

True, but they did work out my feet, it feels like you aren't wearing shoes for the first couple of days.

Picked my NB shoes at a Dick's SG store for <$50. I have Nike Shox which suck ass for running. They killed my shins.

Been running in New Balance for over 10 years now and they've never done me wrong.

I used the 826, 827, 828 models which are now 901, 902, etc. when I was running seriously in high school at around 160-165lbs. These were a neutral, lightweight trainer with no upper support at all really. I switched to the 1061 last spring (neutral trainer with a bunch more cushioning) to save my legs since I'm now 180-200lbs with a lot more upper body muscle than I had in HS. The 1061's are pretty good for day-to-day stuff but if I'm racing or doing a speed workout I prefer the lighter shoes.

    I'm 6', run less than 20 miles a week in the summer. I've ran a 5k once a year for the last 2 years (19:10 in 2007 and 18:46 in 2008... PR from 5 years or so ago is 16:22, 4:32 mile, 1:59 800m).

I have 2 pairs of mizunos. Both are really comfortable, one pair has a really thick cushion and I bought them for the days my knees start getting sore, but they are heavy as fuck and it's kind of irritating. Can't say much about longevity though, only had them for about 100 miles so far. I do like them more than my old asics though
