I've been noticing a trend for the last 3 months now. I thought it was just the summer weather, but even now that it's cooled down a little bit to more tolerable temperatures, I'm still having an issue.

I started jump roping around 2-3x a week about 3 months ago (when this problem started basically) I figured since it started in that time frame, obviously the jump roping is effecting me in a bad way, so I stopped after about 1.5 months. 1.5 months later, the problem is worse than it was before and I'm out of ideas. I don't have any huge changes in dieting or training to make up for anything. I'm still on the same routine as before when I felt fine. I have been losing a little bit of weight, but not anything huge. During those 3 months I have fell from 257 consistently to around 253 consistently.

    Any ideas?

Are you doing any other form of cardio? If not, sounds to me like your cardio fitness just sucks.

explain to me why this problem would only happen when I TRY to get back in shape? Before this, I didn't do cardio for a year and felt fine. Had great endurance in the gym, could do a set of squats and not be winded for 2 minutes, etc.

I occasionally walk in the treadmill (12 degree, 3.5mph) for 45m-1h, but that's very few and far between. I wouldn't doubt my cardio fitness is horrible, but what would be the cause for this? Why would it happen AFTER I try to get in better shape and not before when I was in horrible cardio shape?

yes, I do, and it all makes perfectly good sense.

    You might be missing something

    Let me explain

    1 year ago (No cardio)
    -great endurance in the gym
-not sweating a shirtful of sweat every day
-weight was on a steady increase

    ~3 months ago (Cardio started)
    -endurance going downhill
    -winded after a set
    -sweating a shirtful of sweat
    -can't walk without being winded

    Current (Cardio finished)
-same as 2 months ago, but worse.

My issue is that I started cardiovascular training, but my cardiovascular endurance fell to shit

also has you back on more beef, it gets worse. When i was in the low 270's back in the day, cardio was awful :(

do you really think a whole 20 lbs of weight would put me downhill that much? I think I was 235+ at the beginning of the year (when I felt fine)

I can notice a difference in 10 pounds of weight, but I'm smaller overall. I really think it's just that you're more out of shape cardio-wise than you think you should be- it sucks how fast you lose it.

You are still skipping over the point that I was fine before I even ever did any form of cardio. Maybe the weight is an issue and I should cut a few lbs of fat off me, but that's the last step I want it to come to

For me so far, the differences between 260 and 240 are incredible in terms of being able to walk more than 10 feet without having to stop for a breather and a towel break.

I'd start up the cardio again. I wish I had done that all throughout my weight gain

What's your training schedule like? Days on, days off? You could be overtrained.

I generally train 4 days a week and actually just recently, I was off my training for over a week. I have no obvious signs of overtraining (besides this)

I notice a huge difference when i gain 20 lbs. I was always sweating and it was very hard to walk around for a long time. I also always felt tired and I sweat like a fat pig ( i kinda was ).

its probably because you are in a calorie deficit and don't have the energy you had when you were eating more and not burning as much.

man i practice my ass off 2 hours a day and lift 3 times a week and i feel like a train wreck everymorning. if i did nothing i would feel great all the time.

Well to me my cardio sucks when I'm on a treadmill. I can't run for more than 15 minutes. I just hate treadmills. I can run pretty good regular running but I dunno treadmills i suck at.

treadmills are easier than running on the ground because you dont have to push yourself forward so you should be better at treadmills, you probably just get bored because there is nothing to look at or think about except how shitty running is
