If muscle loss weren't a huge issue, would it be okay start doing cardio on an empty stomach? For instance, if I were to meet a certain weight to get into a weight-classed sporting event. Is it any more beneficial than just regular cardio? Thanks.

If you're making a weight class, it's accepted you're going to be going to some extremes; so yes. In general though there's no greater fat loss doing cardio on an empty stomach than say, an hour after a meal. I pretty much feel it comes down to individual preference- I *like* doing cardio on an empty or near empty stomach, there's less to bounce around that way.

Depends on how long you plan on doing it for.

Yeah, I tend to get an upset stomach while running within 45 mins to an hour of eating. Plus it makes more room for water while I'm running. :)

I never was able to run on an empty stomach. IMO you should always eat before you run.

It's very individual. And in all response to the OMGS you'll lose muscle, if your nutrition is on par, you can easily eat more than you put out running.

I just ate a big breakfast and I'm going to do cardio in an hour or so.

I've also done cardio on an empty stomach and I don't think it matters too much either way. I just prefer being full before doing it so I don't feel like complete ass.

Also unless you're 9% body fat or under I wouldn't worry too much about burning up all your muscle.

just take 1/2 a scoop of protein before the cardio if you're really worried about it.
