Running followed by working out the legs..

    Hi:

    I have heard that it is bad to run, and then work out the legs with weights soon after..however, if you do the opposite (work out the legs with weights, then run) this is good..what is the rationale behind this? Why is it bad to work out the legs immediately after cardio? Why is it good to do the opposite?

    good and bad are very subjective

    why would you want to exhaust the area that you plan on working before you even start? and on the other side, I'd would really despise doing cardio right after I just exhausted my legs in a workout

    often why people recommend to do cardio on either an off-day, or on a workout day but not at the same time

    depends on the person and particular routine. I used to run and in weight training class in high school and then do squats on some days afterwards... I didn't feel like it effected me. After a good leg workout nowadays I don't think I could possibly run at all.

    It might be smartest to simply seperate the two.

    I wouldnt recomend it if your trying to bulk up. But for slim muscle growth, i dont see how it could hurt. It would just get further blood to your muscles.
