Has anybody here run a Marathon?

How long did you train for it?

I had a goal to run a half marathon in September this year. After training for 2 months i'm changing the goal to run a full marathon then. :noes:

I ran the San Francisco Marathon back in 2006. Trained a solid 4 months, but I used to do cross country and track in high school so it helped me out a little bit.

    Nice one.

What sort of training did you do? Did you follow a plan as such?

Good luck with the marathon. I'm about to start roadwork with a marathoner. I asked her this same question, and she said basically that she didn't want to fall below 45 miles/wk on the road, and she recommended doing even more than that. I'll see if I can find out what her times were.

Didn't really follow a plan, I just ran a shitload. Topped out at around 70 miles per week, and did about 6 long runs which were in the 18-22 mile range.

I ran a half back in nov '03...

started back in late summer by adding a long run on saturday mornings to my existing XC training...

started out running I think 7 or 8 miles on sat and every 2 weeks increase the long run a mile....

cant say I've done a marathon yet, but i wanna do a triathalon sometime.

I've done Bay To Breakers, for the SF people, numerous times breaking 60 minutes easily.

I've always wanted to run a marathon but my endurance sucks. I can sprint like hell, but LD always kicks my ass

I followed a 12 week plan I found based off my fitness level at the time. I did the Duke City in Alburquerque, NM which was at 5000+ ft elevation the entire way.

I've joined. My second run didn't register properly. Think the sensor might be a bit loose. (Have it strapped to my Aasics).

Definitely in the running crew... definitely NOT in the marathon crew

I like to run fast for short distances. The longest road race I've ever done was 8k... usually 5k's. I ran 800/1500/3000, steeplechase and cross-country in highschool.

My GF's mom has run quite a few marathons though
