I had it and solved the problem by not running anymore. Seriously, I'm not joking or trolling. I used to run like a madman but got tired of the shin splints, stress fracture, knee issues, etc.

a lot of my knee problems from running were because I was striking too much heel-first.

I've been working on striking more on the middle of my foot and it's helped quite a bit.

Always keep your body over where you feet strike and don't reach out too far.

Maybe you should go to a running shoe store, and see if your foot type matches your shoe. There are a handful of different types of running shoe and for best results you need a shoe matched to your particular foot and stride. A good pair can set you back $150 but it's well worth it.

I reduced the frequency of my runs and always wore a neoprene knee sleeve which helped stabilize my patella. No more problems anymore

same here. I made it to state twice, tried everything to get rid of shin splints and nothing worked except not running.

I just got this for the first time last week. I've been running a bit more than I used to...I did 5 miles one day just fine, and the next day I couldn't finish 1 mile because my knee was killing me. I've been icing and heating it and bought a sleeve for it, and new shoes, just in case. I'll try it out today and see how it goes, I'm supposed to run a 12K on Sunday :wtc:
