Can anyone give me a rundown on how to stream music via HTTP? For example, if I wanted to stream music from my webserver, what software do I need? How would I get it to run? What about performance enhancements? Are there/will there be PHP functions for the software?

    Thanks in advance.

I personally like listening to shoutcast streams. All you info you need to run a shoutcast server can be found here I guess you'll need a fair sized upload speed depending on what bitrate your stream is going to be.

Another vote for shoutcast. One thing to keep in mind, don't kid yourself about how much upload bandwidth you have. Doing so will only piss off your listeners and force them to listen to something else.

I've been lurking for the most part, but decided to post a little more now.
