    (new to me)

but, now that i've got your attention- took some people to the range last friday. one of them is starting to look at buying a gun.
    :wiggle:

they paid $60 (which covered everyone's entry for the day- including mine), and went through about $40 worth of ammo. I'd say it was worth spending that much on them in exchange for converting one!
also, the other two were russian, and had never seen guns before. they thought american gun laws were odd until I told them all about how america is essentially built on the foundation of not trusting your rulers.

haha, yah. well, I only BROUGHT 150 rds of 9 mm (all I could find!)
and (i suspect) they weren't holding the shotgun to their chest, so it was hurting too much to keep going.

    yah, at 20 cents a round, it's 40
    but, at 25 cents a round it's 50

i don't remember how much I payed for the 9mm (it was aluminum), but the 12 ga was like $23 for a box of 100; so i'm sure the final count is somewhere between 40 and 50

also, i went to the store to by 9mm ammo, and was very excited to find ammo for $10/box
they keep it behind the counter at academy, and as the guy went to give it to me, i saw it was makarov. i died a little inside (mostly at the fact that the guy behind the counter tried to sell me makarov thinking it was 9mm) honestly- when i say 9mm, everyone thinks 9x19 right?! right?

    haha yah, we're so lame...

that's when you put your off hand on the bottom? i try to wrap my off hand around my other hand, and pull back with it (pushing with my trigger-hand; forcing some kind of quantum-stability effect?)
    too much hollywood?

i kept telling them to lean more into it. i guess it's something you gotta learn on your own...

State run range = $3 an hour

Only bad thing is 3 seconds per shot.

The #1 rule of gun fights is that you should shoot them before they shoot you.

Actually, I think the #1 rule of a gun fight is don't get shot.

    They are pretty safety orientated...

It's a nice outdoor range ran by the Missouri Department of Conservation and always have at least 5 people on staff. 15 rifle booths (25, 50, 75, 100) and 15 pistol booths (7, 15, 25, 50). They also provide eyes, ears, and spotting scopes. I rarely shoot for over 3 hours anyway so it's still less than having a membership at an indoor range with $11 fee per day but it's still 1 shot per second.

    wow. it's $12/day + 3 per extra gun here.
as far as cost goes, ammo is the big limiter for me.

oh and time. i work too much >_<

    Mine is
    $10 one time test fee
$14 an hour. I usually shoot between 1.5 to 2 hours on that $14 though.

It's just a written "test", it's open book. Just to make sure that you know the safety rules, know proper sight picture, know about POI and POA..etc etc. Then they give you a laminated membership card.
