i think i posted this one in the Computer forum but i didnt really get a clear answer. i want to know how to "deploy" an RoR app. say you've got everything ready on you own machine. the RoR code, the mySQL database, etc. say you wanna upload it to dreamhost. now what? can you just upload the code into the correct directory structure and BAM! it would work? and what is this Rake stuff? am i supposed to use that to "deploy"?

as long as the host is pre-configured with the Ruby on Rails optimized software stack, that's all you need.

Here is a good blog - he'll answer your questions too :)

I think the larger issue here is why the heck you're using ror? IMHO you're better off honing your ASP.net skillset, especially if you are a student/new to coding, lots of asp.net jobs, I've not seen any ror gigs.

If you wanna post ror questions here, I can try to help, but am no guru :)
