Is it weird to be able to row a barbell for much more than you can bench?

I managed to row 175 x 8 for three sets two days ago, but I can maybe press 175 for 3 reps on the bench. This is with my back just a bit above parallel to the ground and rowing to my stomach with an overhand grip. I always thought it should be the other way around?

I can row considerably more than I can bench. I'm strong in my back and weak on bench though, so I'm bad for comparison:o

If you can row more than you can bench, it's likely because you aren't touching the bar in the same place or your form is loose. That's fine. Don't worry about it, just get benching more.

i never thought about it but its hard to compare cause a row can look like a shrug easily.

Ive never tried bent over rowing very heavy. 135 x 12 usually hits my lats fairly well. Ive prolly been pussy footing on this I guess. Guess Ill go real heavy tomorrow.

For me it'd be better to compare bent over rows/bench that I do with Dumbbells because my form goes to crap with heavy bent over BB rows.
DBS I've done 85x8 bench and 80x6 row.

Aren't your traps part of your upper back?

I'm doing them to hit my traps, lats, and rear delts. The motion is awkward for me if I try to go completely parallel and row to my lower abs..

Most people cheat on rows and don't even know it by using a little momentum with their lower back. It's harder to cheat on presses unless you're not taking it to your chest or simply bouncing it..
