Routine for my gf.

    My gf wants to get back into the gym. She used to go right when we started dating but I know she had no clue what she was doing. Right now she's 5'6" and around 135-140lbs and she wants to cut some fat.

    I'm unsure of what to do for a routine.

    I was thinking of doing a mon/wed/fri routine being based around squat, bench, and deadlift, but I'm not sure when she should do cardio. Should she do cardio after her workouts, or on her off days?

    Or would she even be better off going with a bodypart split?

    I searched and people said that Chris's routine would be good, does anyone still have that saved?

    you know this already... whats her diet like?

    i cant offer much advice because as much as every guy is different, women are 1000 times worse.
    Their hormones are all over the map and I have a bitch of a time getting them to consistent gains.

    Stick to the basics...
    Diet like mad for women (generally 1k cals to 1.2)
    good amount of protien (women usually lack)
    good amount of good fats
    dont forget their calcium if you are dropping their dairy, get some calcium pills as its very important for womens bones.
    Good amount of cardio.
    3-5 meals a day.

    The rest is like mad science.

    all the girls i know who work out (all 3 of them lol) prefer full body + cardio. I think it makes the most sense too since they aren't trying to bodybuild but just get some decent muscle so they aren't stick-thin when they lean out.

    when i had my gf do a routine it was a basic full body split that she did 3 times a week varying exercises like squats, deadlifts, lunges, military press etc. etc. etc. etc. you can probably come up with a good one. 8-12 reps is what i had her do

    First of all ASIT?


    Second off, take my advice on this. Dont start her on a B/S/D routine. She'll hate it and quit fast. Start her off with light weight, high reps 8-16 reps, full body work for at least a month or so, with cardio on either the same days as lifting or seperate days, either way will do. Get her to keep the rest periods low and that will help her cut down quickly.

    My logic for this is........most women Ive started routines for (there have been 4 so far) really needed to start with light work that strengthens joints and stabilizers. Generally, when they begin training a thin female that has not lifted at all will have a very hard time holding anything that is anywhere close to heavy for them. They are not likely to put extreme intensity into anything like a squat or deadlift for quite awhile (if ever).


    So keep her busy and keep it light and simple.


    And blah blah blah diet is the most important part, etc etc.

    Just for reference ive started a couple girls with the 5x5 type routine and it didnt work well at all.


    Disclaimer: If you happen to be dating one of those intense/want to win everything/willing to work hard type bitches then she may work better with a 5x5 setup.

    i'm gonna say full body routine also, but each time she's at the gym have her focus on one major lift like squats, deads, or bench press, then do several different accessory exercises + cardio. also, don't forget to compliment and praise her in the beginning, it does wonders to keep them motivated until they see the changes in the mirror themselves. i started my little brother on something like this cause he use to whine like a little bitch.

    on squats he was always like "omg, my legs hurt so bad. they won't stop shaking."


    on deads it was " omg, my neck, my beck" then i'd bust out with " lick my pussy and my crack"

    on bench it was " my chest is on fire, it's not supposed to feel this way"

    after about 2 months, he goes in wanting to do these lifts. in only this time period he's seen changes to his body that he never knew he had control over. plus all the jb pussy he is pulling at 15 has increased 10 fold. wish i would have known this back then cause hoggin sucks.

    I started my girlfriend on the Bill Starr 5x5 routine that everybody here has dubbed "Christophers routine". She goes in the gym, does it, and has been doing it for almost 6 months now. She's kicking major ass.

    +1 ACL brings up a solid point.
    no point giving them complex movement when they are not prepared for it at all.
    they need to build stabilizing muscles (you'll see them shaky and wobbly working out)
    also give her a variety of exercises, and let her PICK a couple exercises that target each area of the body. She'll do the ones she "doesn't mind" and she won't dread going as much.

    Good luck J-dawg. I tried to get my ex on a diet/workout routine and it wasn't easy. Just make sure you don't give her shit when she starts slacking off or you'll have some insecurity issues to deal with :rolleyes:

    Oh yeah, ASIT or we'll assume your g/f is just mike.
