So i recently got my cable installed in my apartment bout 3 wks ago. At the same time i got a wired 4-port LinkSys router and started using it. bout a wk ago, the router stopped working. I go to it and tap it a couple times, and lo-n-behold, works again...... for about a minute. Then it jus goes out again. So i call LinkSys and they ask me what cable modem using. I tell them im using a Motorola Surfboard SB5100. Then they say that the modem sends too strong of a signal, and thusly fried the WAN port of the router. Then they said we should've used a LONGER cable, does that even make sense?? . Have u guys ever heard of this? Does using a longer cable actually weaken the signal enough so it wouldn't fry the router? So i decide to return the damn router but then i need a receipt. And jus as luck would have it, i sent in the receipt for a rebate. SO here i am, no receipt and no router. to u linksys.
