Just wondering how yall felt about ROTC and Academy officers...do you hate em, love em, or could care less about em?

There's really no difference. Our two west pointers were a little more high speed when they first arrived, but that quickly died off after a few months.

i think the difference is more in the experience YOU would have going to either one. you cant tell who the academy and who the rotc officers are after a few months like julius said.

Almost all Air Force Academy grads are "different." Not always in a good way though. From what I've observed they try harder and mean better, but that doesn't always mean they DO better.

We got an academy grad about a year ago that basically kills all the stereotypes I've picked up from working with a few of them. He's low key, laid back, and is actually fun to be around. His attitude is far more "enlisted" than "officer" and he gets along with "us" better than "them."

Im an Nrotc guy myself and my unit sent me to this local convention where other units and the academies since their guys too, and some of those academy guys acted like they where god's gift to earth. I was just wondering if they act like that when they get their commission.

agreed. There are some academey guys in the squadron and they are cool, but different. ROTC dudes are ok but they treat the E's like shit, but so do the academy guys.

Yes they do. Every darn one I've met has told me they were an Academy graduate. The ROTC officers I've met all look like high school JROTC students in their uniforms. I've seen medical officers that take their appearance more seriously. Nothing against them. They just look like little kids.

That's pretty pathetic. I've been reading up on OBC for medical/dental officers and its pretty funny or sad depending on your point of view. :hsd:

Most of the JROTC guys in ROTC that I know act like they know everything there is to know about the military. How do they act on the enlisted side? The ones that graduate high school and enlist to be more specific.

A guy that graduated from AROTC last year still hangs out with us when we work out and he is a total douche bag. Acts like he is the fucking shit because he's in the Army. Reminds me what not to act like when I commission.

from my limited experience the academy types lack in social skills and think they can order everyone around like they are cadets. but i have met a couple great academy grads that are the exact opposite.

I'm a senior in ROTC about to be comissioned soon. I agree with this statement. I can't stand when people look jacked up in uniform.

some people just cant handle ROTC. have heard it from several friends that since we're the older crowd (23/24 and going back for masters) that they couldnt handle being yelled at by 20 year old POC cadets that dont even have an undergrad. :dunno:

Officers that go the OCS route go through basic training like every other Soldier.

For the record, I went OCS and have never regretted it. I dont feel like I "missed out" on any training the other commissioning sources had. Going through real basic, made me see things from a Soldiers perspective (no matter how short a time it was). That being said, its tough to lump every officer into this group or that group. Ive met shit hot officers from OCS, ROTC, and West Point. On the other hand, Ive met total shit bags as well. I think you gotta judge each person on their own merits, commissioning source doesnt really matter.
