    In this scenario,...

These so called researchers write and exploit any security holes.
Then they held a conference to present their findings.
Then hardware and software makers update their anti-virus/security products.
Then they tell consumers to buy/update their products or else, their systems are screwed.

it's all about the $$$ man.

Well, let's all thank them for inventing something new that we can pay them to save us from.

I'd rather they just wait til some asshole comes up with the exploit on his own.

    :nono:

if the real bad guys got to it first,... it could be disastrous.
maybe not a big deal for the typical home user, but imagine the havoc it will do on say, a bank's entire system.

even if you have locks on your front door, a burglar can still get in through your window.

The bad guys wouldn't bother. They'd just wait for some schmuck to leave his work laptop in his car, then steal it.

Never go through the locked door when you can go through the open window.

a single "security" bit is not really "protection".

that deals only with casual theft against the public. When it comes to the high-profile stuff, it's very diliberate and complex.
