So I am going around doing a managerial inspection, and this E-6 I am inspecting hands me some time sensitive paperwork that I have to look at. He says "Here it is, oh and there is a signature right there" and points to the blank spot where he thought he was supposed to sign. I say "Where?" He says "Right there, You see it, I signed it." I realize that since I am an E-4, he thinks that I will just go "Oh, OK I get it." No, his failure does not warrant my breaking the rules and lying to his chain of command. I said "Honestly, I will not lie to our commander about a program he has asked me to inspect." He says "Oh, no. I would never ask you to lie." I said "Alright Sir, as long as we are on the same page." The ironic thing about it was that the paper didn't even need his signature, he just thought it did. I proceeded as I did because I wanted him to know where I stand in a tactful manner. *cliffs for the edjumacated* I inspect unit programs, E-6 thinks he can get me to lie about his failure to perform to standard. I tell him I am not going to lie. I laugh at people who don't do their job, but come inspection time they want everything to be rosy.
