simulates a fake affiliate click...or something like that. Cheap way to make a few extra bucks.

    I told him no.

I outed the guy because I think people who are dishonest to their readers deserve to get AIDS from jailhouse rape. If your readership likes your content they'll click your referral links. But all of Robb's content is stolen, so why would anyone click an ad on his site?

And honestly, you see that a lot in his forum and it is pathetic. People trying to figure out ways to be dishonest with their readership. A lot of webmasters on here would rather throw together another site that has already been done to death and use blackhat techniques to make a few bucks off it than put together something different and original.

Basically it makes the affiliate think that someone genuinely clicked a link on your site and places a cookie on your computer. The next time you buy something from eBay or Amazon (the most commonly stuffed cookies), they get a cut.

Not obvious, I don't think. I'm sure they can find it if they paid attention. To the vendor, it would just seem like they're getting hits.

Is that just a coincidence that it's down the same day he gets kicked from reddit?
