    been a while since ive had time to browse the forums. just read about this 'new' program - rippetoes.
    looks like a modified 5x5 routine, and basically down to a 3x5. so, some moron complained the 5x5 is too hard (it is, but its weightlifing, isnt it??!), so some genius said, hey you dont have to do 5x5, you can do 3x5!

    am i missing something or is everyone trying to reinvent the wheel?

    ok, so he is legit, thats good to know. but, i still fail to see the big difference, and since i dont have his book, i dont have anything other than this to go by. if theres anything more useful here than the sarcasm (which is old already folks, youve been around long enough, you grow up yet? :p ), id appreciate it. kthxbye.

    RIPPETOE:
    Week 1:

    Monday - Workout A
    Wednesday -Workout B
    Friday - Workout A

    Week 2:

    Monday - Workout B
    Wednesday - Workout A
    Friday - Workout B

    Etc.

    For the actual workouts read below:

    Note: This doesn’t include warm-up sets

    **Means this is OPTIONAL**

    Workout A
    3x5 Squat
    3x5 Bench Press
    1x5 Deadlift
    **2x8 Dips (if you cant do these or no assist machine then do Decline Dumbbell Bench Press with your hands Facing each other)

    Workout B
    3x5 Squat
    3x5 Standing military press
    3x5 Pendlay or Bent Rows (or power cleans)
    **2x8 Chin-ups (recommended mainly if doing the cleans)

    BILL STARR:
    Monday
    Squat 5x5
    Bench 5x5
    Barbell Row 5x5


    Wednesday
    Squat 4x5
    Incline or Military 4x5
    Deadlift 4x5


    Friday
    Squat 4x5, 1x3, 1x8
    Bench 4x5, 1x3, 1x8
    Barbell Row 4x5, 1x3, 1x8

    I did it last semester. I highly recommend it when you are looking to change up your program (especially if you are first starting out)

    I'm cutting now and on a higher volume routine (very very similar to NoQ's in the sticky)

    It was more of just a choice to mix it up than anything else.
