Are pretty much like rifles at a regular gun store right? I've heard various rumors about the guns at walmart being of lesser quality than at other places. Is there any truth to these? I was checking out the Remington 700's at walmart this weekend and they were $300-325. I go to the local gun store today and the same rifle is listed at $525, firm.

I would usually just ignore the rumors, but with that much of a price discrepancy I figured I'd ask.

Also, I found a Bushnell Elite 3200, 3-9 x 40 with a duplex reticle for $150. Good deal? The guy claims it was only used twice and it's pretty much new. I'll be going Wednesday to check it out.

Is it the exact same rem 700? They have several different models in the same round available.

I know there was the special wally world 10/22, but that was actually better than a normal one at a good price.

Lower quality. The one rep was in my shop out here saying the drill they use to make the barrels they only make about a dozen with. Supposedly half or so come out great and than they start going down hill.. since walmart kills the companies demanding things for less they give them the "2nds" as we'd call them. You should be able to get pretty close pricing at other shops though if you search around.

This is complete, utter, and absolute bullshit.

The only reason Walmarts prices are so much lower is because of the obvious, they buy in such a large volume that they get a discounted prices compared to your local gunshop who orders one rifle at a time. A Remington is a Remington is a Remington, no matter where you buy it.

And I wouldn't buy the used Elite for $150, I've bought two brand new off Ebay for the same price, one was a 3x9 and one was a 3x10.

beats me that's just what he was saying.. I bought a 22 rifle there like 10 years ago..can't say I ever bought any other gun let alone a shotgun from them and that's really all I ever see there at least out here is .50 and shotguns anymore and when I went 2 nights ago for ammo they didn't even have shotguns anymore.

That said, will Wal Mart order something other than run-of-the-mill 700s?

I bought my savage .22LR there and it is damn accurate, it is a little picky about ammo and feeding certain type correctly and recently I've had some issues with the magazine, but with close to 2k through one ten round magazine I don't find it a problem.

The only issue I had with walmart is the little things, first they make you add information to the top corner of the 4473 form like your phone number, then they need a manager to complete to authorize the cashier to make the transaction and make the call, then they need a manager again to unlock the gun room (for me they actually said they needed a manager to unlock the gun room over the loud speaker) and finally they need a manager for a "4473" which means the manager carries your gun and escorts you out of the store. (that could have been because I bought a gun and ammo for it at the same time.) And its not the same manager at all three points they have to keep calling for a manager. Personally just for the hassle I'd avoid buying at walmart, but here I guess your options are limited kevin's is well over priced.

Its a question I've wondered, some of the walmarts in Jacksonville still have an ammo counter, but no firearms on site, but they do have a large book that has everything including the evil black rifles in it.

Yes, ask to see their special order book some time. They can order rifles and shotguns from practically every big name manufacturer.

But you're not gonna find everything you'd be able to buy or order at a true gun store, though they have a decent selection.

No the gun rep said it.. the shop isn't over prices either they're usually quite a bit cheaper than everywhere else. It was like 2 the 2nd time I was in the place so it was ages ago I wish I could remember which company he was from. It came up because we were talking about how they're stopping sales of guns in all the walmarts pretty much.

Bottom-line is they don't sell the factory rejects and anyone who would say or believe so is a fucking retard, cut and dry.

I might wait until I'm in Jacksonville again before picking one up, but $300 is a pretty good deal. I don't know if Shooters could do me any better.

Yup. Also think of their warranty dept's. All big name guns come with a factory warranty, would they knowingly sell crap that they'd have to preform a lot of warranty work on? Don't think so.

Oh i get you now.. He didn't say rejects he was stating that say they make like a dozen barrels 8 might be perfect and the others might have little imperfections. It happens look at pistols a lot of guys complain they get one where it just doesn't clean right ect... if it's bad enough or they're not lazy they send them back and what happens? the company gives you a new one.

No no, I'm saying that they don't send the imperfect things to wal-mart either, your rep is feeding you BS. Actually factory barrels are usually pretty horrendous regardless, click on the video link in orange:

    That's pretty bad looking..
Yet doesn't that video more or less prove what the guy said..he's showing you they aren't perfect brand new. The rep said the better ones of the batch go to actual gun shops where as the lesser of the batches go to walmart where they beat up everybody on pricing.. say your dealer pays $150 for something but walmart demands they get it for $100 cause they buy so many.

You could always call them and ask what's if they have that gun and if so what is the best deal they can give you on it. I'd buy it at shooters even if they only matched the price over wally world
