Rifle shot narrowly misses family in rural home near Port Orchard

    By The Associated Press

PORT ORCHARD — Kitsap County sheriff's deputies say a rifle shot narrowly missed a family of eight in a house south of Port Orchard.

Deputy Scott Wilson says a shot fired from a neighboring home narrowly missed a 48-year-old man who was watching the Seattle Seahawks game Sunday. His 24-year-old daughter escaped injury despite being hit with pieces of glass from a shattered window. The bullet subsequently hit a computer keyboard.

Wilson says it was only luck that there were no injuries.

A 40-year-old man who lives in the neighboring house told deputies he was showing off his .270 deer hunting rifle on the deck. He says he didn't know it was loaded until the weapon discharged.

The man has been jailed for investigation of reckless endangerment with bail set at $250,000.

First of all what an idiot, if its his gun he should know it is loaded or not and check anyways and if it had been in some else's possession the first thing to do is check the chamber.

Still narrowly misses a family of 8? sounds like it narrowly missed his daughter, unless they were all standing in a line.
