the title just about sums up my question, I live about 5 miles from the local range and I was wondering what if any legal issues there would be for strapping my .22lr rifle to my back and heading to the range on my bicycle or motorcycle.
Can't get enough work to pay for gas right now.:wtc: but I want to get to the range.:)

Take back roads, stay off the highway, keep it in a LOCKED zipper or hard case and DO NOT carry ammo with you. Buy it at the range.

All I can think of. :dunno:

Depends on your location, do that here and you'll have 12 police cars and 2 choppers overhead before you make the 5 miles to the range.

keep it in a locked case, and I can't imagine that it'd be illegal in most cases

doesn't mean you won't get stopped though.

They can't expect everyone to own cars. Locked case should be fine.

Whereas in my home state, you would probably make new friends. I used to walk from my house to my church basement with an unloaded shotgun when we were demoing it to the Boy Scouts. Nobody ever raised an eyebrow.

I'm in california so if anyone in the cali crew can give me feed back, I was thinking about using my bak packing backpack and putting my rifles in that, locked and bolt out.

In CA, this is probably a terrible idea.

OC of an unloaded rifle in CA is legal. The issue is that if you go through a town, they might try to get you for brandishing, depending on where you are.

www.calguns.net would be a better place to ask.

I know. The lack of police cruisers and helicopters chasing him is a sign.
