    Update 11-14-06
Things are going well. I am taking some time away from training and instead I am working on the land I bought. I am unable to train at this point, awaiting clearance from the doctor who did my surgery. I should see him the first or second week of December, and will know more about any upcoming fights at that point. It has been good to take a break from training, but it is impossible to take a break from the sport completely…with interviews and appearances.

I have become much more involved with the business side of American Fighter since my fight. We are building a fan based team website, and we are working on expanding American Fighter to much more than a clothing company.

Anderson is a great fighter, and my hats off to him. He is a class act, and I could not have lost my belt to a better man. I did not perform to the best of my capability that night, and refuse to make any excuses for a poor performance. However, it was clear that Silva was on that night…and you can’t make mistakes like that against elite fighters. This fight was much like any other fight…belt or no belt, losing sucks. I am once again a contender, and winning my next fight is my first priority. I’m not sure who I will fight next or when I will get a rematch. There are too many variables in this sport to try to make a prediction like that.

Training has been a topic of discussion within my camp, and some changes will be made for my next fight. Perhaps I am over-training…many fans believed I looked “drained” coming into the fight. If that were the case, it would have been events leading up to the fight, such as training. The weight cut went well for this fight, and becomes easier each time I make weight.

he supposedly tried desperately to pull out of the fight, but the UFC wouldn't let him

To recieve an ass-whooping like that, he better have been sick. He dominated that division, and then got stomped. If he wasn't muffed up with some kind of ailment/exhaustion/dehydrated, its gonna be a very boring middle weight division, as Silva will remain champ for a long, long time.

I hope the same thing that happened to him happens to matt tomorrow.

Before the fight he said there is nobody in the UFC he wouldn't mind throwing against- especially middleweights.

Hes a cocky fuck who got what was coming to him.

no worse than wanderlei wanting to fight fedor and cro cop, or gomi wanting to fight wandy

i think it's more of wanting to challenge themselves more than thinking that they can dominate anybody in any weight class

    a) a fighter
    b) at the time, champ of his weight class, so obviously why the hell wouldnt he want to throw down with anybody, that his godamn job. Rich franklin is not a cocky person, you twat.

look up Tito ortiz in the dictionary.

Way to be a faggot and not read anything. Even if you didn't read my post you should have heard that interview yourself if you want to post in here and sound like you have a clue what you're talking about.

Rich wouldn't mind throwing with anybody- silvia, liddell, tito- anybody in the UFC, ESPECIALLY in his weight class. That makes him pretty cocky, especially when you say that then get totally dominated.

    Just like hughes last night.

I don't see that as a bad thing. I like a fighter who wants to test themselves and has confidence in their abilities. Obviously Rich got a reality check, but I don't think you can knock him because he wants to take hard fights.

Saying you wouldn't mind throwin down with anybody != cocky, saying that + "and i'll win" or sumthin like that is cocky. What fighter will go and say "no no no i dont want to fight so and so bc im afraid" WTF?? Sometimes guys want a challenge just to see how it would fuckin turn out.

    edit:jag6984 said it perfectly

    read what i said above

it's about competition and challenging yourself...unless he specifically said that he'd dominate all aforementioned opponents

i know what he said, i saw the interview. Maybe you should re-read my post b/c i was saying that , as a fighter, you should be ready to go with anybody; you should have no fear.... look at what happens when people doubt themselves, with anything, not just fighting...
but there is a fine line between confident and cocky, and i dont think rich has crossed that line.

Oh and i like how i have never seen your ass here in the cage, except in this thread when you wanna slam someone you dont like and say stupid ass shit.:fawk:
