I'm very interested in RFID lately and was wondering if anyone here was tagged. In a couple weeks I'll be going to get tagged and was wondering what some other people do with theirs. Also, which chips did you go with? I assume the standard EM4102, unless you paid extra for HiTags. Any information would be very helpful!

I've already called my piercer and once I get the EM4102, I'm going in to get it done

I admit I live in the country, but I can't for the life of me understand why you would be tagged willingly? I thought of tagging my daughter so I could track her movements, but that's way different.

What is the advantage of having it in your ass instead of in your pocket?

well..... the reader must be less than ~3" away, so unless you are having anal with the reader, or mooning it, it won't read it. but if it's in your pocket, then you have to remember it everywhere you go... or you could just easily put it in your hand and you've always got it at the tip of your fingers

that's been a popular question, although the amount of metal in it wouldn't be enough to set the alarm off

Sounds like a bad idea to me, considering how easy it is to copy an RFID.

although that's true, a person would have to be within 3 inches of my hand with a reader to get any information. although you might say "well what if youre sleeping and you dont know?" well first of all, im not that important that someone would try to steal my rfid code, and second of all, i might be considering a HiTag, which is an encrypted tag which would take a while for them to crack

The signal from a basic wireless router is just strong enough to make it to the external reaches of a big home.

But someone with a tube pickup plus an amplifier can pick up the signal from hundreds of feet away.

It won't be long before someone can do something similar with the rfid tags.

    If they're not already...

    *COMPLETELY* different.

WiFi actually uses power to BROADCAST it's signal.

RFID is *passive* where it uses the power from the receiving antenna (hence the term "proximity"). You would need to get power to the unit (without burning it up, which it is also designed to do) and then read it's weak signal, as well.

    Not particularly easy.
