it's an implant they put in you, a gps tracker of sorts. i'll bet we'll all have to get one in the near future.

so what would you do? me, i don't have any problem with it. big brother knows where i am even without it.

I would not want anything implanted in me but having an RFID on my id card that can only be read from a few feet with a very major encryption would be ok by me.

I'm assuming you brought this up re the two guys that got captured...

If so I'd point out given the massive size of the US military it would be impossible to keep it quiet, all it would mean is next time the first thing the bad guys are going to do is go hunting with a knife.

All the gear to detect them is commercially available anyway, hell, depending on the size of the tag a hand held metal detector would do.

It's only readable from a few feet away. :dunno:

If it could be detected from a few miles away, it would be worth it. But then again...some asshat would sell the technology and equipment to the bad guys and they would start hunting us down with it.

    Keys words here "RF"

Anyone knows with the right amount of mW and recieving power + a nice high DB antenna that RFID tags are EASILY readable for far distances. Its just a matter of engineering those products.

you'd probably have to pump so much power you'd end up cooking the surrounding tissue.
