    leaf aptus 75S digi back

Impressed me the most with its shadow quality (good details, low noise), my main issue with digital...but its still not film. Faster than most backs but still a different way of shooting than the normal mark II, the 54S is .87 fps which is the fastest I believe...an 8 gig card holds about 130 shots- each battery also lasts about 130 shots which is a bear in itself...if you want to get the full speed of shooting you have to use sandisk extreme IV cards. I used it on a blad H2. Those of you familiar with hasselblads will know they are fairly uncomfortable for some to use; leaf is developing its own camera for release in the next 6 months which has an adjustable grip (yay!). I personally like the H2 but think it could be better...focusing back to back between the blad and a mark II was interesting, canons insanely fast and accurate AF system shines so bright...the touch screen is nice, but sooooo slow- especially when chimping or zooming into your shots to see if they are in focus- its like looking at porn on a 14.4 as you stare at the leaf logo. I can't wait for 5 years when everything is fast wireless (tethered = :barf: )

Where it really suffers is on the back end, or the assistant/digi techs job...at 39mp the files are huge, and you have to convert them to get them to read in most normal RAW readers. If you are doing some fast paced shooting (is that possible at 1fps?) you are SOL, it takes so long- 130 shots per battery is like...yikes...when you do 2k+ shots a day. Leafs software is nice for simple color touch ups etc but anything serious you need to get it into cs3. You also can't shoot +jpeg which kills for giving clients day of pictures.

None of this review is interesting or pertains to anyone on this site? so whych camera is bettar , d50 or d40x? How many borders would you put on your photoz when u post on intraweb?

edit: just googled, i guess the 75s is 33mp ... the leaf files are anywhere from 30-40 megs a piece.

Leaf is awesome. Few in the industry actually need what it does but what it does is incredible. Medium format perspective FTW.

This is just a reply to the person who said I don't post anything and that I am an "ass goblin".

If I do post something maybe 2 people on here have any idea what I'm talking about and most aren't interested, plus its offtopic.com so its much more fun to just say racial slurs attached to penis/dick/etc.

PS I just got a raise to the 3rd in command at my kiosk in the mall for schol portraits :coold:

That comparison is not going to prove much as both are made to be very neutral and in a studio setting the lighting will affect image quality more than the camera. Added to the fact that you are rez'ing down the photos to be the same MP. The real beauty of the Leaf is medium format perspective which is far more appealing to the eye than small formats like 35mm and digicrop'd sensors.

just for shits and giggles, i want to say the leaf is on the right. for two reason. .CR2 is a canon file...so that maybe be obvious...and the jpg appears to have more skin detail and sharper hair.

    am i right?
