What are the chances of a new F body now that GM's business has taken a turn for the worse? And what form would the new car take (rear drive/engine size) if it did return?
There was that leaked styling exercise of the new Camaro, allegedly from a 19 year old art student. Not sure if that was legit or just GM testing public reaction?:hs:

With slumpin sales and no RWD platform.. GM is too busy putting out same old crap than to bring back the Camaro.

Unless they do it as a FWD V6 :mamoru:

 After $10k in parts, two engine rebuilds, and being out of commission for 6 months, you barely break into the 13's. I feel so fuckin sorry for you.

There are rumors about a new RWD platform for the rumored new Camaro. All I got to say, is that if it looks anything like that picture, I'll need to start saving my pennies.

For your Honda, it'd be after $40k in parts, 5 blown top ends, and a few big ass NAWWWWWWWZZZZZSSSSSS bottles, you'll get into the 13's.

I drive a 2000 Mustang GT. It'll be a lot easier than that to get deep into the 13's.

There are several other RWD platforms.

The new camaro is coming sooner than you think.

There will be a new Camaro, but probably not any time soon. It could either be Cadillac or Solstice based.

It would be a shame if they don't have something for the 40th Anniversary. If they had a suitable rwd platform then a moderately sized and priced car with the Olds Aurora 4.0 V8 could do well, especially if it looks like the sketch above.

I think you're right, but I think it's just that the Solstice is a smaller car than the Camaro. You can put a V8 into a Miata (if you don't believe me http://www.viperalley.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=517181&Main=442112 ), so I don't see why you couldn't put one in a Solstice.

Holden made a 3-Series sized sport sedan out of it, then GM can make a Camaro out of it.

sure you could but can you imagine how poor the road manners would be of a layout similar to the miata you posted???? heck you can even put a V8 in a 3 door focus but i cant see gm putting a 5.7L (or similarly heavy V8 engine) in a production car with such a short wheelbase....

The Miata is actually a decent car to put a V8 in (from what I've heard), usually it's done with a 302. That is not the only Miata that has had a V8 put into it, that was just the one I found.

It's the Solstice underneath, but bears no resemblence to it.

There's no reason GM couldn't make a Camaro out of it the same way if they really wanted to. The LS2 isn't much heavier than the four cylinder either, and the car can be re-engineered in many ways to accomodate a V8 or whatever they'd like.

Also there are several Pontiac Fieros around with all kinds of V8s, LT1 350s, Northstar V8. The LS1 5.7 is an all aluminum motor so weight wouldn't be an issue. If it is then use a smaller V8 like a version of the Northstar.

    they did that too:

    http://www.mallettcars.com/sky-conversion.htm

they'd prolly be better off using the commodore platform to build the new camaro though.
