Ok, this computer I have been working on. (couple threads now)

I went to do a windows update and took a look at how far the updates went back. They went back to 2005. The computer was supposedly bought "new" last year for 4200$ w/ a printer. (i come to find out)

    The computer is a compaq nc6000. ( 1.7gh, 512ram, 30gig drive)

It looks like the lady who the computer was recovered from gave us back a different computer thinking no one would know the difference.

The lady did a wipe with a disk utility before she gave the computer back. The system restore points go back to February. Is it possible to restore the computer back to before she did the wipe if she did the wipe just a week or two ago?

what are you trying to do? restore points don't save documents and stuff, they are there to snapshot the system when you install new hardware or make a large system change.

what probably happened is that they cloned the hard drive from a computer in 2005 and have been using that system since then.
maybe i don't understand what your looking for. a computer bought for $4200 last year would not have a 1.7ghz processor, also it would not be a compaq

Yea, I've been piecing this togeather the last couple of hours.

It seems like the computer, which was sold commercially over 3 years ago, and the windows os update dates match. If it was, in fact, bought new.

No way in hell that computer was $4200...unless whoever bought it was a complete and utter moron.
