How do I know when a new storyline starts?

I have never been a comic book reader, but recently I've been having a lot of discussions with my boss who is an avid fan. I know a lot about Marvel characters from Marvel cards and cartoons back in the day. I would like to start reading a couple comics, but I don't want to start mid-story. Do you have any good resources that I can check to see when a new storyline will start?

Captain America #1. start from there, enjoy the
New Avengers #1 is also a good place to start.

if you follow both of those, you'll get up to civil war and secret invasion.

Spider-Man technically has a new storyline whenever it started going weekly, but they're been really :greddy:

good place to check is wikipedia

I know I can go and read the existing storylines, but I'm looking for when a new story will began. I guess I'm looking for when a new #1 issue is coming out for a Marvel comic.

I just check here, newsarama, comicbookresources and those kinda websites. Plus, if you check the websites of the publishers, they often have that info. Specially Marvel.

And wikipedia is a good place for it. Also if you are looking into buying some, the trades often get arcs, so you know you wont get an arc in between two trades (at least not often)
