I have a 3rd generation 20 gig ipod. It started dropping music a while back and I just got around to backing all of the files I had stored on it. But when I reformatted it Itunes said that I needed to hook it up to the power adapter, to finish the format. Since I have long since lost the adapter I was wondering if anyone knows how to get around this.

can't you just unplug it, then plug it back into the computer?

The sync cable is the power adapter. Plug it into a USB 2.0 port?

yeah, up to the 4th gens, they came with firewire cable and a power adapter to charge... dunno if that part is required to reset a 3rd gen or not though :dunno:
