What is the average cost of replacing a laptop screen? Is it something that i could do myself? Someone is selling their IBM T60 for cheap (~$300) because of a busted screen, would it be worth trying to fix?

maybe if you could find someone else selling the same lappy with some system component fried but a good display.

then sell both bad display and fried systems for a couple bucks?

I replaced the screen on my old Dell and ended up having issues with the connector on the new screen. It never seated right, so the screen would flicker and fade out a lot.

I've never replaced a screen, but I'm sure it's pretty straighforward. I've replaced screen hinges before which requires you do remove the screen. Not sure on prices, but as said above, Ebay woluld be your best bet.

That's when you soak the connector in superglue and hold it in place until it dries. Then, if you bust the second screen, you know it wasn't the machine's fault, you're just a clumsy bastard.

just be slow and take your time. depending on the laptop, it should be straightforward- just don't lose any screws and be gentle with the connectors.
