My mom's machine constantly runs out of HD space and she's getting fed up with it. I keep reading about how people are replacing the HD in their laptops to something larger and I think that would help her out tremendously (she has an external but usually needs the files on the laptop too)

She's got the 1.2ghz Powerbook G4 that was purchased in May of 2005. It currently has 100gb of space. I think something in the 250gb range would suit her well but I don't know what can/can't go in there (im not HD technical).

Im about to head to a meeting or i'd do the research myself...can I ask my Mac Shack peeps to assist with what will work and where I we can purchase one from?

pretty sure its just any 2.5" IDE drive, not sata. you can get the instructions on www.ifixit.com

it's the 1.67ghz G4...oops. So any of those mac hard drives should work just fine? Is there an easy way to format it first then transfer the information from her current HD to the new one?

yeah pretty sure any 2.5 ATA drive will work, check in apple system profiller under disks or whatever and it should be listed as "ATA" not "SATA" or "Serial ATA"
