either that, or recommend something that is equivalent to good mornings that i can substitute in. i don't feel all that comfortable with them

nuffin, they are in their own category.
go lighter and practice form, or just find something that suits you, wider legs, more hunched, etc

I am on something similar to that routine and have to say I am sore as piss....I am going to wait till tomorrow and just do core exercise today.....Monday/Thursday split with Friday going to be some type of arms and calves.....Mon/Wed/Fri is to much for now until my body gets used to it.......

Back on topic Nothing I can think of to replace good mornings effectively.......

lol. i'm not complaining that they're too hard for me to do. i've been on the routine for a couple of months now. however, after that thread about gms a week ago i thought i should get some opinions on my form. i won't be able to take my camera to the gym for a little bit, so i wanted to substitute something else in for the time being. instead, i'm just going to do them and focus on my form as much as possible. i think my form is right, but i'm sure everyone thinks that

    don't stress it too much

people get hurt because they a) do too much weight and/or b) lose their form under heavy load

gm's are retardedly simple, probably on par with deadlifts if not easier. Keep your back arched, bend your knees a little, move some weight. Use somewhat light weights to get used to the movement for two weeks, then increase as you feel your body can handle it. Way more people have hurt themselves benching, but (almost) no one jumps on the anti-benching bandwagon ;)

a good replacement for good mornings is straight leg deadlifts, but make sure you curve your back alot when you do it.

i have a hard time figuring out what it should feel like for my back to be curved. i know how to round my shoulders, but what does a curved back look like?

hmm, when getting into heavier weight, i dont think the arched back theory holds, does it?

there's a few different variations, but concentrating on arching your back under heavy loads will help keep you from rounding. Most people tend to misjudge being flat-backed when under heavy weight.

I had to work INSIDE a squat rack when doing them today, but it wasn't terrible. I hope I did them right...I guess I'll see if I'm sore tomorrow or not.

Yeah I usually just throw the weight over my head and catch it with my back. Although this becomes harder once you start going up in weight. And one time it fell on my head.
