In my current diet I have been eating a bowl of Special K every morning just because I love cereal and its quick and a healthy choice. I also eat either applesauce or watermelon as my dessert at lunchtime. After adding up everything I ate on fitday, I think I eat way too many carbs (218g) so I was wondering if there are any good replacements for cereal in the morning and fruit at lunchtime.

I was considering egg whites for breakfast and strawberries for lunch. Unfortunately, I'm usually in a hurry in the morning and cooking egg whites isn't the easiest thing to do. So I'm looking for alternatives if there are any.

In short, what should I substitute for cereal and watermelon/applesauce?

edit: I'm 6'1", 212lbs. and cutting, trying to get under 200lbs at least. Lift 3 days a week, cardio 5-6 days a week.

honestly, is it that hard to wake up 5mins earlier to cook up some eggs? And if you are cutting, you really need to cut out alot of those carbs. But this depends on your body type. Some ppl on here can cut with eating lotsa carbs, while others bloat up like a mofo. As for lunch, get some CC or a protein shake.

Actually yes, I have amazing trouble with waking up. Over the last few weeks I seem to get up later every day. Sometimes I even have to put my cereal in a plastic cup and eat it on the way to work. :hs:

That amount of carbs is actually the highest it would get on a given day. Sometimes its as low as ~130g. How does that number sound?

    What's CC?

    Open tupperware box

Add desired amount of cooked rice (none if going no carbs)
    Add one can of tuna
Add one tblsp of flax oil

Put lid on tupperware box and store in fridge for tommorow

Times that by 4 and you simply have what I take and eat during college.

So throw together a 200 calorie shake. 2 scoops of whey and some water and you're all set.

That sounds like a really good idea...unless I can manage to get up and actually cook some egg whites in the morning.

laziness...CC=cottage cheese. I still feel 130g of carbs is still alot. I eat that amount on my cheat days while cutting. Usually I stay around 40-50g of carbs/day. With around 160-170g of protein. But again, each person reacts differently. If it's working for ya, then by all means stick with it.

Thats what I eat as my main meal for lunch every day. I was asking about a lunch "dessert" type thing. I usually have applesauce or watermelon after the salad and chicken breast.

hmmm if that's the case id say have something like strawberries, blue berries, grapes and so on

if you are in a rush in the morning you could have fruit for breakfast, and add the protien like eggs or turkey bacon for lunch? that could be a possibility

instant oatmeal and a bananna in it with some milk. Then some egg whites. Takes like 10 minutes at the most. That will keep you full forever.

Even a huge bowl of ceral may be a lot of carbs but its not that much in calories. Probably the best thing you can have in the morning.

I don't see how people make shakes in the morning, I hate bringing out the blender. A protien shake is really good too but it might be 500-600 calories, but if your on a low carb diet like atkins calories don't matter.

I've never eaten cottage cheese, it looks too much like old sour chunky milk to me. :barf:

But maybe I'll have to try it. :hs:
