Replacement cost for timing belt.

    A family member needs the timing belt replaced on an 97 Subaru Outback (sport), how much will the garage charge?:sadwavey:

    Did the timing belt break? If so, your engine is toast.

    dont know how difficult it is on the subaru.... probably around $600

    Not all engines will do this. Most Japanese and American engines are designed with low-enough valve lift that the pistons won't impact the valves even if the timing belt snaps.

    European engines, on the other hand...
