I used partition magic 8 to merge some partitions on one of my hard drives, but in the middle of the data shift segment of the operation, PM threw an error and didn't complete the operation. Now PM won't even start up (gives an init error on startup, yes even after reinstalling PM), and both previous partitions are no longer recognized by Windows (XP Pro).

I've looked online and found some utilities but was wondering if anyone's had experience rebuilding or repairing the partition table. I have the data on another drive so I haven't lost anything, but if possible I want to avoid having to format the whole drive due to the first partition (which is still fine) on that drive being bootable to another OS.

    File system is NTFS obviously.
