    How worthless is this?

Whenever I had my 360, I could download most things fairly quickly...

Now that I've got a PS3, most things take FOREVER to download.

What is everyone's experience with HD material via your PS3.

5 gigs to download at 12:40am means I'll watch this movie when I wake up in the morning?

I don't understand it either, there's always people that say they download things quick, but it's so much slower than the 360 it's ridiculous.

On the 360 through wifi (I bought the stupidly expensive 360 wifi adaptor). I can rent an SD movie, and after about 10 seconds, it'll let me play it and finish downloading before I can get halfway through the movie. Most downloads will get close to 1MB/sec which is maxing out my connection.

On my ps3, a 20mb game update will take 15 mins or more sometimes. I went into my router, and opened all the ports that the ps3 supposedly needs, it seemed to help a little, but it's still not that quick.

From what I have noticed though, just from streaming vids from my computer to my 360 and ps3, is that the 360 seems to stream movies better. I can even stream some HD videos and they don't stutter at all, on the PS3, I can't. I always have to use PMS to transcode the video for smooth playing. Maybe if I had connected through ethernet cable it'd be quicker? :dunno:

I haven't downloaded any HD movies onto the ps3, but for e3 I queued up like 4 gigs worth of conference and video game videos and it took overnight to finish. I would imagine that those are going to be slower than movies right now because a lot of people are downloading stuff because of e3.

If you're going to rent movies get Netflix. Don't do Xbox Live or that PSN shit.

I max my connection out through PSN. Must be user error.

Netflix quality is terrible. If you like sub DVD quality bitrate in your "HD" movies then go with Netflix.

I've been told that it's just me but my PS3 takes FOREVER to download anything. My Xbox 360 is much, much faster.

Not really gonna matter much if you're just bored and wanna watch something to fill the time. Also a lot of movies on VIN are not the kind of movies that demand cutting-edge HD; oldies, docs, comedy, etc...

Shit, you think that's bad, I just bought Little big planet a few days ago. There were like 6 updates for the game. It was about an hour before I could actually play it after I popped it in.

I think it's a great system, but shit, when a 360 game has an update, it takes 10 seconds max for the update to download, the game to restart, and for me to start playing.
