I'm going to either kill myself, or kill someone. I can't figure this fucking thing out, and it's aggravating the shit out of me.

iTunes automatically sorts all my music, and so it grabs all the tags from a song and sorts it, well, you know how it's done.

Sometimes, I don't like the way a name is written, or it just says "Track 01" and I'd like to give it a name. I change it, but when I click on the file after I personally rename it, it reverts back to "Track 01"...

I've turned off the automatic sorting, I've searched, I've tried help. I've tried going to the file info to change it from there, but it always reverts back to the original messed up characters.

I have an ID3 tag editor, which I found from here, and I'm doing them one by one outside of iTunes...any idea on how to fix it in iTunes?

    Thanks :mamoru:

    get info.
    change info.
hit the "next" song button on the info window as if to change info on another song.

are you doing this in the finder or in iTunes?
are you selecting the track, hitting apple-i/get info, and editting it in there?
are the files on a write-able location (i.e. hard drive rather than a data CD)?
do you have permission to change these files (i.e. they're in some other user on your computer's folder)?

    yes

    I'm at a loss here :(

Even when I change it in iTunes, in info, and click NEXT, and let's say, I click previous, it takes be back to the old song name, and the file jumps back to it's old location in the order on my screen...

I just am not getting it!

Does it happen all the time, or just with a few songs?
I had it happen to a few songs, but i was entering japanese text.
I think the tags were either an old version, or corrupted, and i fixed 'em with mp3rage.

Click on the song in the library/playlist- than do "APPLE+ i" and than it will bring up a window. That usually works for me.
