How much of a hassle is it to get tint off? I need to get my windows re-tinted, as the tint job on it right now sucks and has some holes in it. I was just wondering how/if I should go about removing the tint/residue then have it retinted. Or pay a bit more and have the tint place remove it first.

  2. Sharp razor blade and a bottle of acetone.

Get as big a section started as you can w/ the blade and peel it off. Use a clean cloth for the acetone to dissolve the glue residue left over. It takes a little bit of time, but that's what's worked best for me.

I've also been told to use a heating gun to peel it off in one big sheet...

Good quality tint usually comes off in one piece w/o any residue (sungard for example).

If you take it off and there is residue, I'd use goof-off or a window sticker remover spray (usually available at Pepboys, etc.).

    Good luck!

never tried acetone, but did use Windex (containing amnonia). Nice if it does come off in one piece, but isnt that hard. Usually comes off in big sections...as long as you control the ripping direction. It took me about 20 mins per window using a razor blade and windex.

Get a bottle of janitorial ammonia, put it(full strength) in a spray bottle and spray it all over your window tint until the tint is soaked, cover with a garbage bagso reduce fumes. After about ten minutes u can use a plastic scraper to get all the tint out, wipe down with water or windex.

Note: Use a gas mask or atleast a cloth on your nose coz ammonia stinks....and can make you dizzy

  11. Mix it with bleach and you'll be able to breathe it all you want.:sadwavey:
